Spazio alle Radici: Archives in Dialogue
During Design Week 2026, MEET initiated a dialogue with Museo Kartell through “Spazio alle Radici”, a project that brought together their respective archives: MEET’s “Le radici del nuovo”, dedicated to innovation in art and digital culture, and Museo Kartell “Spazio Archivio”, which chronicles the innovations that have shaped the history of design.
Today, the two museums come together in a digital exhibition to bring new content to light. This collaboration gives rise to a dialogue of cross-references and interconnections between artistic languages and disciplines, recognizing the archive not merely as a repository of memory to be preserved, but as an active tool for research and cultural production.
The first three dialogues that emerged from this meeting are presented in the form of a digital exhibition (learn more about these dialogues at the link):
1- The Componibili (modular elements) designed by Anna Castelli Ferrieri in 1969, in dialogue with John Whitney’s 1961 computer-generated short film Catalog.
2- The Ines robot, designed by Denis Santachiara in 1986 for the 17th Milan Triennale, and the Power Glove gaming glove, developed by Mattel in 1984
3- The A.I. chair, designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell, and Refik Anadol’s work Renaissance Dreams, both created in 2019 using artificial intelligence.
Projects that share highly relevant themes and perspectives, told through images and the wealth of archival materials.
Three dialogues that mark the beginning of a collaborative journey that will continue to explore new content in the coming months.
