A living atlas of new immersive experiences
On the occasion of the seventh edition of The New Atlas of Digital Art 2026, on June 23 and 24, 2026, the ground-floor spaces of MEET will be transformed into MEET VILLAGE, an experiential laboratory dedicated to the new languages of immersivity.
Conceived as an open ecosystem for artistic and technological experimentation, the Village hosts works and projects in VR, MR, and XR that redefine the relationship between audience, space, and narrative. Here, the immersive experience is not merely a technological tool, but a true cultural language capable of generating new modes of perception, participation, and meaning-making.
The Village thus becomes a living atlas of the expressive possibilities of contemporary digital art: a space where images, data, virtual environments, AI, and interaction intertwine to shape experiences that transcend the boundaries between the physical and the digital.
THE SCHOOL OF ATHENS
The School of Athens is an immersive mixed reality experience created by Metagate through a collaboration between The CommonPoint and TAUMA, two artistic collectives united by their exploration of the relationship between image, technology, and contemporary creativity.
The CommonPoint is a project founded by 3D artists Bartosz Domiczek and Artur Tamiola, who work in the fields of design, CGI, and art direction, created with the goal of sharing knowledge and tools related to digital creative processes. Joining them is Giovanni Croce, known as TAUMA, an Italian digital artist who combines references to classical culture, futuristic imagination, and contemporary technologies in his works.
The work reinterprets the imagery of the famous “School of Athens” as a representation of a 21st-century thinking machine: a neural network inhabited by robotic figures, the robo-philosophers, called upon to grapple with one of the most complex and still-unanswered questions for humans and machines: what is consciousness?
Through a dialogue between art history, AI, philosophy and generative processes, the work reflects on the relationship between human imagination and algorithmic production, transforming into an immersive and participatory space. The mixed reality experience allows visitors to step inside the work: the public can explore the composition, interact with the various robotic characters, and delve deeper into their reflections through narrative content, images, videos, and AI-generated materials.

HELIOBIOMA
Heliobioma is a mixed reality experience developed by Metagate, inspired by a project created by a group of students from the Politecnico di Milano who won the Music Tech Competition at Casa Sanremo 2026. The project stems from the convergence of technology, music, and environmental research, with the aim of transforming invisible natural data into an immersive audio-visual experience.
The work combines Biodata Sonification with solar wind data provided in real time by NOAA (the U.S. federal scientific agency responsible for studying and monitoring the oceans, atmosphere, climate, and space), translating plants’ bioelectrical signals and cosmic information—such as the speed, density, and temperature of the solar wind—into musical and visual elements.
Heliobioma is a live audiovisual exhibition in which performers generate sounds and images through sensors connected to plants and real-time data processing systems. Using a headset, the audience can interact with the digital environment, customize their listening experience, and enter a space where natural elements, data, and visualizations overlap with the live performance.
The work offers a reflection on the relationship between humans, nature, and technology, transforming the environment into a sensitive, interconnected organism. Plants, performers, solar data, and spectators all participate together in the creation of a constantly evolving soundscape and visual landscape.

CLAVIS / ENIGMA NEL CONVENTO
CLAVIS / Enigma del convento is an immersive virtual experience in Mixed Reality developed by Metagate for Meta Quest 3 and set within the Diocesan Museum of Brescia.
It is the first multiplayer Mixed Reality experience in Italy, designed to guide visitors on a journey of discovery through the secrets, artworks, and history preserved within the spaces of the former monastery that houses the museum. Metagate specializes in developing immersive and interactive experiences that combine storytelling, technology, and digital environments.
The experience takes the form of a puzzle-based adventure set in the monastery’s former refectory, now known as the Mons. Bruno Foresti Hall, where participants, wearing VR headsets, see the real space enriched with digital scenes, interactive objects, and narrative elements superimposed onto the physical environment. Players are called upon to collaborate, move through the space, and interact with mixed reality to solve puzzles and accompany the protagonist—a young friar—on a journey to discover the truth about his origins.
CLAVIS offers a new way to experience cultural heritage, combining storytelling, gameplay, and immersive exploration. Through active audience participation, the project redefines the museum as an experiential, relational, and interactive space, opening up new ways to experience museum environments.
