City Digital Skin Art Festival 2025: October 1-5 in Milan

Milan Digital Week 2025 will enliven Milan from October 1 to 5, and for the occasion, the city will become a visual experimentation laboratory thanks to the City Digital Skin Art festival (CDSA). The project, an international digital video art competition promoted by the China Academy of Art, will bring the works of young students from around the world to large LED walls in various European and Asian cities.

Memory in contemporary cities

The theme chosen for this edition of CDSA is “Memory Coexistence.” An invitation to explore the role of memory in contemporary cities. It is a journey through personal, collective, digital, and historical memories that coexist in the same urban space, generating meanings that are constantly changing. The festival encourages reflection on the role of memory as a universal human experience, both intimate and widespread, making the traces of the past visible and raising questions about the present and the future, also in light of emerging technologies.

CDSA: an international network

During Milan Digital Week, the 15 videos selected by the jury, which includes the president and founder of MEET Digital Culture Center Maria Grazia Mattei, will be screened in the Galleria delle Carrozze at Milan Central Station. The screenings will continue throughout October, allowing citizens and passers-by to encounter the works in their everyday space, in a casual, open, and accessible way.

However, the CDSA will not end with the Milan stage. Milan will be the first city to host the festival in its 2025 edition. The project will then move on to China and other cities in Europe and Asia, building a global cultural network that brings together young artists and students from different parts of the world and promoting collective art as an open and shared creation. In this context, digital technology is not only a creative tool, but also a cultural bridge, capable of generating dialogue and cross-fertilization between cultures, languages, and visions.
