Digital innovation and new languages meet at MEET
Once again this year MEET is actively participating in Milan Design Week, putting its know-how at the service of design. And it does so in line with the methods that have distinguished its work from the outset: that is, aiming to reduce the Italian digital divide and promote a new awareness of technology.
After the success of the first edition – confirmed by the passage of more than 40,000 visitors – this year MEET once again confirms itself as the nerve centre and headquarter of the Porta Venezia Design District, which for 2024 proposes the theme “EverythinK is design” to talk about inclusiveness and diversity, intrinsic characteristics of the district as well as two topics that MEET has always been concerned with, in its constant quest to bring different expressive languages into dialogue and interaction. During Milan Design Week, as a meeting point and conviviality, you can also count on MEET Café. A perfect place for a refreshing break or to have a coffee, stop for lunch or an aperitif.
“MEET means encounter. This is why we want to further strengthen the dialogue between creatives, designers and works, bringing our ground floor to life with ever-innovative proposals, intelligent design operations and exchanges of ideas. As the headquarter of a virtuous project such as the Porta Venezia Design District, we bring forward the reflection on nature that has always been at the centre of human culture with an unprecedented work by Thierry Loa, and we welcome an exhibition signed by Migliore+Servetto for NEUTRA, to go more and more towards the exploration between physical and virtual. Through digital languages, we also enter into a relationship with matter itself, staging new narratives ” – Maria Grazia Mattei, founder and president of MEET
Going into more detail, during Milan Design Week, ItalMesh ‘s Zero Gravity Eden installation of wire and plant nets – hosted on the ground floor of MEET and a permanent work in the MEET the Nature programme – is enriched by the work of Thierry Loa, interdisciplinary filmmaker and content creator for new media. His work 21-22 USA, at MEET in its Italian premiere thanks also to the support of the Quebec Delegation in Rome, offers a meditative look in VR 360° from the skies of one of the world’s greatest superpowers to witness the landscapes of the Anthropocene at the dawn of this new era. It will be available on the ground floor of the International Centre for Art and Digital Culture, from 3pm to 7pm.
In the theater of MEET, an exhibition of videos and immersive installations, dedicated to the theme of nature, will be shown, bringing together the work of 7 international artists: Tamiko Thiel and /p(Enter the Plastocene), Streamcolors(Meta Cities. When Cities Become New Nature), Rasa Smite and Raitis Smits(Deep Sensing), Yoichiro Kawaguchi(Zero Gravity Evolution), Sissel Marie Tonn(The Sentinel Self), Maria Castellanos Vicente(Other Intelligences) and finally Thierry Loa(21-22 CHINA and preview 21-22 USA).

Also during Milan Design Week, MEET is hosting the exhibition To the edge of matter. An unforgettable journey, a journey into matter, between the physical and the virtual, curated for NEUTRA by Migliore+Servetto, who are also responsible for the brand’s creative direction.
To the edge of matter. An unforgettable journey will be held from 16 to 21 April.
The exhibition route translates into an immersive narrative, a synaesthetic experience in which the uniqueness of matter is the narrative key to the collaboration with eight internationally renowned designers – atelier oï, Draw studio, Foster + Partners, Gabriele and Oscar Buratti, Mario Bellini, Migliore+Servetto, Nespoli and Novara, Zaha Hadid Architects.
