From Observation to Shapes with Artificial Intelligence.

In his work Renaissance Dreams, Refik Anadol transforms millions of images into streams of geometric shapes that come to life before our eyes. After exploring some of Refik Anadol’s images in search of patterns and shapes, participants will discover how to train an artificial intelligence to recognize them. By training an AI model, they will see the results come to life through digital animations. A magical and hands-on experience to understand how classification works and what lies behind the functioning of AI.

The course is designed for children starting in first grade.

Analyze, train, program: build your own AI model

When we look at a work like Refik Anadol’s Renaissance Dreams, our eyes seek out shapes, structures, and repeating patterns. But how does artificial intelligence perceive the same image? And what happens if we are the ones who decide what it should learn to recognize? In this workshop, participants will act as researchers, analyzing the work to identify its geometric elements and train a customized machine learning model. Geometric sprites and patterns will be programmed into a collective performance where art, forms, and code converge. A workshop to learn how to critically examine the artwork, the machine, and the boundary between the two.
