On the occasion of Liquid Chimeras, the first exhibition in Europe by the duo Entangled Others (Sofia Crespo and Feileacan McCormick), MEET and Scuola di Robotica are offering workshops designed to explore the themes of the exhibition. Liquid Chimeras stems from a condition: where information is lacking, spaces for creative possibility open up. The duo translates this urgency into installations that traverse the twilight zones of the oceans, where pressure makes direct observation impossible.

The workshops offer practical, creative, and collaborative activities designed to stimulate critical thinking, curiosity, and active participation. Through interactive experiences, participants take part in a project whose goal is to connect the artistic experience with interdisciplinary learning paths, capable of inspiring new visions and skills to inhabit the present and imagine the future with awareness.

In dialogue with the work “Decohering Delineation”, the workshop leads children to experiment with how technology can give voice and sound to creativity, transforming their illustrations into musical keys capable of making the ocean “speak.” Participants will draw animals or reconstruct marine ecosystems using various recycled materials. By exploiting conductivity and programming tech devices, they will transform paper and recycled materials into interactive controllers capable of reproducing real sounds recorded in the depths of the sea, such as whale songs or sonar signals. An experience designed to discover how electronics can help us recount and protect the hidden beauties of the underwater world.

Reef reconstruction. Rebuild marine life in 3D and augmented reality.

After observing the work in the Immersive Room “Sediments Notes”, where murky moving waters conceal aquatic life, participants will become “architects of the sea.” Using simple 3D computer modeling programs, the children will learn to reconstruct the shapes of algae, bacteria, and microorganisms inspired by the images in the exhibition, creating their own seabed. Thanks to augmented reality, their creations will then come to life: simply frame the space with a tablet to see their ecosystems come alive. A hands-on workshop to discover how technology can help us imagine and reconstruct marine ecosystems beyond the visible.
