EMAP: European Media Art Platform Extended
European Media Art Platform (EMAP) Extended is a project co-financed by the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), launched in February 2026 with a four-year duration. It involves sixteen European institutions (Werkleitz, Germany; Antre Peaux, France; Ars Electronica, Austria; Creative Industry Kosice, Slovakia; gnration, Portugal; iMAL, Belgium; IMPAKT, Netherlands; Kersnikova Institute, Slovenia; Kontejner, Croatia; MEET Digital Culture Center, Italy; LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Spain; NeMe, Cyprus; RIXC, Latvia; Onassis Stegi, Greece; WRO, Poland; silent green, Germany) and is coordinated by the German organization Werkleitz. The project consolidates and expands the activities of the European Media Art Platform (EMAP), founded in 2018, by creating a large international platform to promote artistic productions and strengthen the relationship between artists and institutions.
The main objective is to support emerging artists in digital media, fostering their professional development through access to international networks and technological infrastructures. Public programming will help increase the social relevance of media art and make complex topics more accessible to a wider audience.
EMAP Extended foresees 45 media art residencies dedicated to innovative collaborative productions in the fields of art, digital media, technology, and science. In addition, 100 grants will be provided to support mobility and the international presentation of EMAP works, and 28 capacity building workshops will be organized.
Projects will be selected through open calls. Current issues such as environmental degradation, social inequalities, and digital biases will be addressed, integrating sustainability, inclusion, and critical reflection into artistic practices and institutional collaboration. The results will be evaluated, documented, and published on EMAP’s online platform. The platform’s international network will be expanded to include up to 200 organizations, with the aim of presenting and promoting the emerging artists of the platform.
