On the occasion of Milano Digital Week 2026, themed “The Generative City” for this edition, MEET Digital Culture Center reaffirms its role as a knowledge hub—a strategic meeting point across the metropolitan area where citizens and businesses gather to explore new perspectives.
Throughout the festival, MEET presents a program highlighting the Center’s mission as an Italian node within an active global network spanning Europe and the rest of the world. The goal is to frame technology not merely as a tool for urban and social transformation, but as a space for critical, artistic, and cultural reflection, where the human element remains the fundamental anchor for consciously building the future.
CDSA 2026: The Liquid Commons
Enriching the week’s digital programming is the return of the City Digital Skin Art festival (CDSA)—the now well-established international video art competition hosted by the China Academy of Art. The festival transforms large urban displays across various Asian and European cities into canvases for artworks selected through an open call. For its 2026 edition, CDSA proposes the theme “The Liquid Commons,” stemming from a specific premise: the ocean unites climate, life, technology, cities, civilizations, and ultimately, a shared future for humanity. Yet, for most of the urban public, the ocean remains distant—an abstract and nearly invisible entity. The festival has thus called upon young students, artists, and creatives from around the world to translate complex scientific data, non-human perspectives, and deep-sea ecologies into impactful visual narratives, turning the ocean from a remote geographic entity into a public reality that can be felt, understood, and shared.
The CDSA experience unfolds across both local and international dimensions. During Milano Digital Week, selected works from the open call will be displayed on the large LED walls in the Galleria delle Carrozze at Milan’s Central Station. Furthermore, throughout the entire month of October, the exhibition will enter MEET’s own spaces, screened on the large display in the Lounge as well as in the Immersive Room during Digital Week. From Milan, the circuit will expand into a global network connecting 10 major cities across 5 different countries. Major hubs such as Hangzhou, Singapore, and Hamburg will participate, bringing the artworks to an estimated audience of over 100 million spectators worldwide and demonstrating how digital art can transform the ocean from a remote concept into a tangible, shared public space.
